Dierenbeeldhouwer Was jarenlang dierenverzorger in de Antwerpse Zoo waardoor hij van zeer dichtbij de fysiek en het karakter van de dieren kon bestuderen. Autodidact met trefzekere vormgeving en eigen stijl. Hoofdzakelijk brons (verloren-wasmethode). Reality transformed into art, bronze in motion, animal sculptures as if captured by the eye of an instinctive and passionate photographer. The sculptures by this artist are characterised each and every one by a powerful authenticity.  They remind us of the great nineteenth-century masters such as Bugatti, Barye and Collin, but with one important exception: the sculptures of this artist are not intended to shroud nature into mystical mists of romanticism.  Instead they emphasize the natural pose of the animal.  The conception behind all his works is of a pure simplicity: The instinctive capture of a being  in motion. Erwin Peeters succeeds in producing an art that in essence hinges on nineteenth-century realism, but that looks at the same time equally modern and contemporary and thus gives a new impetus to an older artform.  It shouldn't surprise the reader that this rising sun has a growing group of admirers and followers on his hand within the current art scene.
